My first job

I am Anna, and I recently began working as a waitress at a local restaurant in my town, I was extremely anxious on my first day because I had never worked before. However, the manager gave me training. He taught me many things. For example, he showed me how to use the computer to order food, how to carry plates without dropping them, and how to talk to rude customers. I had to learn about all the menu items to answer customer questions. There is a lot to remember!

My job duties keep me very busy. I show customers the tables and hand them menus. When they are ready, I take their order on a notepad and enter it into the computer. This sends the order to the kitchen. Then I bring their drinks and food when it is ready. I have to check that the orders are correct.

The hardest part is dealing with problems. Sometimes the kitchen runs out of an item or makes a wrong order. I apologize to customers and try to fix the issues. Rude customers also make my job stressful.

I am on my feet all day long, carrying heavy plates and glasses back and forth. My legs and feet hurt at the end of each shift! But making my own money is the nicest aspect of my work. When I receive my paycheck, I feel pleased with myself. Now I can buy things I want like clothes or concert tickets. I am saving money for university too.

Working as a waitress is demanding but I am learning important skills, like customer service, responsibility, and managing stress. My first job is hard, but it is also exciting to have my own independence!

d my presentation, I said that even though those are three strange careers, they show that you can find interesting jobs to match your personality and interests! My talk made my classmates expand their thinking about jobs they might want to try in the future.
